Kate Spade Inspired Bowl

Saturday, June 1, 2013

Have you noticed all of the Kate Spade inspired DIY projects around the blog world recently? Jenna at Rain on a Tin Roof even put together a collection of 13 Kate Spade-inspired projects! Months ago, I made a Kate Spade Inspired Polka Dot Bowl and I'm excited to share it with you today!

Kate Spade Inspired Blue Polka Dot Bowl

I found the perfect blue "pasta" bowl at my local Goodwill for only $3.99 and knew exactly how to "Kate Spade" it... add silver polka dots!

After bringing it home, I wiped it down with a damp paper towel. Then, using my silver Sharpie I drew circles and filled them in. I free-handed it, but you could easily cut out circles with a hole-punch or scissors from painters tape and put them around the bowl. Once the polka dots dried, I wrote "love" in the bottom of the bowl. I didn't bake this like I did with the cat food dishes (here and here), so I am careful to only use it as a decorative piece because I don't think that it's really washable.

What do you think about the recent Kate Spade trend? Yay? Nay?

  12. HI there. Love your very pretty bowl, it's very special. I never thought about using sharpies. I used acrylic paint and some glitter on some of the dots. I have those foam pouncer thingys. I used a brownish gold, pewter and silverish to make the dots like Kate Spade. I too saw the post on Tin roof blog. I have 3 different sized glass vases (from thrift stores) so thought I'd try it on them. duh, why didn't I think of sharpies?
Found you thru The Answer is chocolate party. I love those parties but I end up not getting very far with reading other blogs cause I just have to check into ones that catch my eye, I might miss something I need to know about. Sure glad I clicked on yours.
Where in Mt did you live? We lived on Canyon Ferry Lake out of Helena for 7 yrs. Dumbest thing we ever did was sell to move to KY to be by oldest son as he moved away. We had 20 acres and I miss it so much, I'd love to move back to MT, felt like I belonged there. We moved there from San Diego area, can you imagine what a culture shock it was for us? but I loved it so much there.
We live about 18 miles west of Grand Junction, CO (to be by 2 youngest kids) and now we rarely see them. Duh, do you think we might learn someday. How did you end up in New Mexico? Hope to hear from you at: FurryKidzPaperworx@gmail.com
